Chattanooga Mission Trip

Our Chattanooga Mission Trip is something new for DCPC Youth! We will be headed to the city of Chattanooga, TN to serve the city’s widows by helping out with home repair and yardwork. This trip is organized by Son Servants, a longtime youth-focused mission trip ministry that has worked in Chattanooga for years and established great local relationships. Our middle and high schoolers will be grouped together for travel and sleeping arrangements but will have the chance to serve in groups made up of members of all the different represented churches. During the evening we will come together for fun and games and worship. This is a great way to serve a population that the Bible has made it a priority to serve!

When July 2-7

Who Can Go Middle & high schoolers (current 6th to 12th graders)

Fee $300 (We do not want this fee to be an obstacle to anyone who wants to go. DCPC’s Journey Fund is in place to help pay for trips like this. Click here to find out more and apply to the Journey Fund for assistance.)

Sign Up Details To get on the list a $100 non-refundable deposit (see below for exception) is due by February 20th. The payment can be made in the church office or online (be sure to add “Chattanooga MT Deposit” in the memo field).

Minimums Unlike our conference trips, this is a new trip for us and therefore kind of an experiment. In order to do this trip, we will require a minimum of 5 youth and 1 female leader signed up by February 20th to make this trip possible. In addition to our minimum, Son Servants also has a minimum of 40 participants needed to do the trip. If either minimum is not reached deposits will be refunded.

Next Steps Balance of trip fees will be due by April 1st. Waivers and other paperwork will be distributed to all attendees prior to the trip.

Actual Costs The fee for CMT ($300) is subsidized by the church to make it accessible to as many youth as would like to attend and we will never ask more than that fee. That said, we do want to make available the actual costs of the trip so that families who feel moved can have the opportunity to make an additional donation to help close the gap between the fees and the actual costs. Our actual cost for the trip is $385. Again, the fee for the trip is $300 and no more, but any additional donations will be gratefully accepted.

Cancellations DCPC will be making payments to Son Servants in advance of the actual trip which often makes it impossible to recoup fees in the case of cancellation. In some cases registration and fees can be transferred to another youth on the wait list (excluding the non-refundable deposit).

Wait List We will make an effort to include any youth who miss the sign-up deadline but may be constrained by room and trip availability. If that is the case we will create a wait list. Wait listed youth will be next in line to take the place of any youth that have to cancel.
