November’s Worship God Focus: Prayers of Thanksgiving (Updated 11/14)

“If the only prayer you say in your entire life is, ‘Thank you,’ that would suffice.”
-Meister Eckhart

“Thanks!” is one of the most basic but also one of the most powerful prayers we can say. It’s power isn’t that it can change God, but rather that it opens us up to God’s presence and provision in our life and moves us to gratitude. And that prompts us to love God and love others; as the psalmist says in Psalm 116:12, “What can I give back to God for the blessings he’s poured out on me?”

There are thousands of ways to say thanks to God, but the main way we are going to challenge everyone in our ministry to take a next step in Going Deeper is by recording 1,000 things we are grateful for over the next 11 months (that’s 3 per day!). Each of those 1,000 things is a gift we can say thank you to God for and be moved by God’s blessing.

How can you keep track of the 1,000 things you are grateful for over the next 11 months? Here are some ideas:

Gratitude 365 App Your phone is a great tool to record what you are grateful for! Gratitude 365 is an app that will remind and prompt you each day to record your blessings.

The One-Minute Gratitude Journal is one of the resources we had on the retreat and is another great place to record what you are grateful for if you are more of a fan of paper and pen. You can buy one from Amazon.
