Packing List
- Clothes, jackets, and shoes that can get dirty and are appropriate for the weather (we will be spending a lot of time outside)
- Pillow and sleeping bag/blankets & sheets
- Bible, notebook, pen
- Reusable water bottle
- Toiletries
- Towel and washcloth
- Personal medication
- Flashlight
- Snack to share
- Frisbee (optional, but there is a great disc golf course on the island!)
- Camera (optional)
Do Not Pack List
- Anything illegal: drugs, alcohol, weapons, fireworks, medication you do not have a prescription for
- Anything with a screen (see below)
Technology Free Weekend Please do not bring phones, laptops, tablets, and anything else that has a screen or needs charged. Car/bus rides are also technology free. Any technology items that appear will be held by the leaders and returned at DCPC on Sunday. If anyone has any questions/concerns about this, please let me know in advance! Why is this important? The irony of our technology is that we use it to connect to others and build community, but we often do that at the expense of building community with those we are physically present with. Having a technology free weekend will enable us to be present and connected with our retreat community. Possible exceptions to the no screen rule: smart watches, digital cameras, e-readers.
We’re Teaching This Our theme for the weekend is the series What Makes You Happy. Parents: get more details and ideas to try at home in the Parent Cue.
We’re Doing This Like Youth Group, we’ll have big group/small group sessions (3 total) as well as personal times of devotion scheduled throughout the weekend and worship Sunday morning. Saturday afternoon we will do some team building exercises and archery tag plus some down time. After dinner we will have a big group game and then relax around the campfire and have some late night worship.
Cancellations We have paid for all youth who are going at this point and cannot provide any refunds.
