The 30 Hour Famine is part lock-in, part spiritual discipline, and part action against the biggest problems our world is facing. We’re going to team up with Davidson UMC’s youth ministry for this one and having some fun together. We’re still finalizing some of the details about what we’re doing, but don’t wait to sign up! We will be closing registration on January 28th.
In case you are wondering about the famine/fasting aspect, here’s what you need to know:
- Fasting is an ancient spiritual discipline that Christians have adopted and use as a way to focus the mind and body on our dependence on God.
- Fasting for 30 hours is totally safe for healthy teenagers.
- This is a fast by choice. There will be bread and juice available throughout the 30 hours and no student will be prevented from eating.
- Modern science has found lots of great benefits from fasting and, when properly understood and supervised, it can be a healthy practice.
We are still nailing down a final schedule, but you can expect capture the flag on Davidson’s campus, serving the hungry and poor, and some time exploring the ways that God designed us to love others. This was a ton of fun in 2018, so don’t miss this year’s version!
